Group: Member Post Group: Working Member Posts: 146 Status: have pencil. will scribble.	personally, from what i have gathered through my readings, i do think there is part of the brain that is responsible for 'kick starting' an OBE. however just because there is a possible scientific explanation does not negate the fact that an unusual event is occurring that may transcend all current tools of scientific measuring. the reason behind an abnormal event does not have to be 'black' or 'white'. scientific or paranormal. we are dealing with a part of the body and events that are coloured grey. i think one needs to be open to moving beyond purely science and purely paranormal. is it not as all possible to theorise that during times of crisis, great emotional upheveal and physical trauma that parts of the brain, previously dormant and unknown, spark into life through neurotransmitters ( or something akin to) that send signals between neurons (brain cells) that open, for want of a better word, "portholes" between this reality and another? do we need to negate one explanation for the other- or could we broaden the scope of possible explantion of events to include both? it should be noted in OBEs that there have been reports of people having an OBE and moving many miles from their body to check on the welfare of a loved one. and when back in their body and making note of what occurred while in the OBE state, both the person who had the OBE and the person who the OBE person had visited, corroborated what the OBE person saw. Eg. the OBE person saw their loved one in the shower and a specific time and then the person who was in the shower stated they were in the shower at that specific time. personally, i have had an OBE where i could see 2 yellow envelopes on top of a wardrobe that i previously did not know where there due to: 1. not being my room 2. the height of the wardrobe dwarfing me. once, i was back in my body i immediately grabbed a chair and checked for the envelopes- and they were there. the only explanation i know of it being there, is, i was out of my body.
