Group: Captain Awesome Post Group: Working Member Posts: 179 Status:	Hey everyone, I need your feedback regarding a technical direction we must take. Essentially we have two options: 1. New site & forum or 2. Keep current forum - no additional site The issue is this: One of the reasons I wish to upgrade to a better forum is for security and maintenance issues. I also want said forum to have your user accounts integrated into the website itself to add your own personal stories etc. Because support for this current forum software has dwindled over time, there is little support available for converting the content to a new format. Well, there is none... What we CAN do is have the new setup, and have access to this as a locked and archived forum. There would be some time for transition before it would be locked, but it would remain accessible for viewing. During that time, we would have the chance to build up and structure the new forum. Of course, people would be welcome to copy/paste important posts from the old forum to the new. So the question is: New site & forum with old forum archived or Keep site as is, and do best with upgrades Please vote in the poll above, and if you have any questions or comments leave them here for me to address. Well after having to boot another spammer off last night .. same one... he must have a lot of gmail addresses, maybe it is time to move the forum to a more secure site. Not that it bothers me... I will just keep my fingers exercised on the 'ban' button . Harder work for them to keep applying for a new Gmail addresses lol. I think as long as we don't lose any of this information we have, as I know I have written stuff I like to go back to, ever if it is to only cringe and go "did I really write that???". We can then refer and put links back to the original posts. What are your thoughts guys, we are putty in your hands as this forum is for you too, so your thoughts are important to us. Ugh and now it won't let me edit my spelling mistakes!!! Group: Member Post Group: Working Member Posts: 146 Status: have pencil. will scribble.	i'm of the notion that a secure site is a good site, but would also like to preserve the posts that are up already. i have found some of them quite fascinating. my only other concern is that there are quite a few sites to post up on now. to a certain degree it may be better to consolidate where people post so it is in one spot, although i can appreciate that you will probably get more peeps posting, overall, if you so have a number of sites to post on. maybe you can make it clear that there is one preferential site to post on throughout each site- especially if security is beefed up on one.
